I am loving this no plying thing. It totally works! Yesterday, I spun up some of this roving I have. I wasn’t planning on not plying it. I was just spinning it up. I was practicing. In the meantime, I read that part in Deb Menz’s book about using [...]

Vindicated

A-ha! I suspected as much, and I was right.
I know that conventional wisdom is to ply your yarn. It’s almost de rigueur. When I had my spinning lesson, I also had a plying lesson. Spinning and plying go together like a horse and carriage, apparently.
But I don’t especially like making more [...]

A day in the life

Well, that skein of yarn that I spun up is so beautiful. I’m sure other newbie spinners understand the feeling I had that I just didn’t want to knit it up, because then I wouldn’t have that beautiful skein to admire. Hmm, what to do? I figured there’s no reason to decide [...]

Pictures to follow

Well, I have a skein of yarn drying over my shower-curtain rod in the bathroom, and if I may be immodest, it is beautiful! It’s not perfect, because I’m still not able to get consistency in my singles, but the variation is significantly decreased. What’s more, I also want to get some spindles.  I’m going back east to visit family [...]

At a loss

OK, I tried to dye some of my BLF top light blue, thinking that light blue would go with all the colors in the “Mulberry” colorway. However, my top didn’t actually dye light blue. I think the Wilton’s icing dyes are separating out. So, now I’m at a loss as to what [...]

Gah! I just love spinning! It is such an amazing, miraculous, awesome thing. As much of a misanthrope that I am, I can’t help being enthralled by the ingenuity of humans to come up with the whole fiber/spinning/weaving/knitting thing. I mean who’da thunk it? It’s just amazing.
I got a package [...]

How many socks-in-progress can one person have? The problem is, I keep getting jazzed about trying a different type of heel or toe or method or whatever, and I want to start now.
I just got in the mail this fabulous book. I’m not all the way through, yet, but it is awesome. [...]

This is my new fiber blog. I have several posts which I imported from my “regular” blog. So, if you’re reading them and they seem strange the way they’re written, that would be why.
