So, here’s a pic of my kick spindle with a cop of BFL singles on it.
Just for clarification, I use it on the floor. I ust put it on my sofa chair to have a nice background for the picture. Parker loves the chair. He is the reigning mascot of the [...]

My Mother Marion kick spindle came today. I had to work (I’m there now), so I only got a little bit of time to play with it. My first impressions are that it’s quite fun. I’ve gotten some input from some spinning lists, and a lot of people claim it’s slow. Well, spindles are slow [...]

Well, I sold my Spindolyn. And since that money was in my Paypal account, it helped offset the cost of my Mother Marion kick spindle, which I bought from Ebay. It’s not the same exact one from the Woolery. It’s a knock off…and half the price, I might add. I’d link to a picture, but [...]

Being that yesterday was payday, I put another order in on the ol’ intertubes. I ordered from The Woolery. I bought a turkish spindle..because I’m not a fan of winding the cop, and having a center-pull ball at the ready might be kinda nice. I bought a Babe spindle, because I like [...]

I got this idea to try to “handpaint” some of my handspun yarn. Up to now, I’ve been using food-safe things to dye with, because I don’t want to worry about obtaining new pots and pans and all that jazz. I’m trying to simplify my life as much as possible.Anyway, I am having [...]

Ugh! I’d just about decided that all I wanted was a Babe Production Wheel, a Majacraft Suzie, and a Fricke electric spinner, and then I’d be done coveting wheels and could just sit back and enjoy myself.
But no. Now I’ve added a Lendrum Saxony to the list. You can get them with the orifice on [...]

Here is part of the fleece I bought soaking in the sink…
And here’s the merino I spun up and Navajo-plied…
The merino is so pretty, and I’m pleased as punch, but boy was it a lot of work. I was really excited that it only broke once or twice while spinning. I was really treadling fast [...]

One of my internet pet peeves, when it comes to things like knitting forums/message boards, are the newbies who ask very basic questions. It’s as if they have no initiative to learn something themselves. They want to be spoon fed by forum members.
For example, someone asks, “What’s k2tog?” I’m sorry, but that’s inappropriate for a [...]

Someone on a spinning list mentioned that it was a bit redundant to buy different wheels if they were all going to be the same type…upright wheels with scotch tension. In other words, buying the same type of wheel from different manufacturers was kinda silly, but buying different TYPES of wheels…upright, saxony, single drive, [...]

OK, the decision has been made. I don’t know what I was thinking with all that silliness about waiting until I’m a good enough spinner to get the wheel that I really want. I’m gonna go ahead and just get the Suzie and forget about getting a lesser wheel in the meantime. [...]
