Finally made it over to this blog and found this great post about spindle vs wheels. I am a knitter too and have taken a spinning class. I liked it - more the challenge of learning it - and even considered getting one. But just kept hesitating...your post sums up my unformed thoughts perfectly. And just last week I noticed this strong urge that I needed to learn to hand spin. I've seen demos, but the best demo was watching a Nepali woman spinning when I was trekking through a small village 5 years ago. She was walking below the window of the small room I was staying in. Walking and spinning. I was mesmerized. She didn't know I was watching and captivated by her task. It's a favorite memory of that trip.
So you've inspired me to follow up on this quest to learn to spin.

What a pretty doily! I really need to learn how to crochet so I can make some! I wonder if crocheting lacey things is easier than knitting them? I've attempted to knit some lace doilies, but I always seem to mess it up.

Aw, sorry. Someone has already bought the whole shebang. I'm waiting for the payment to clear. I don't expect a problem. If there is, I'll let you know.

That Turkish is adorable! And your handspun is fantastic!

I sold almost all my spndles that weigh over 22 grams. I still have one larger one that is too pretty to sell, but I confess I never use it. I hate plying too, which is why I asked for a cheap electric spinner for Christmas. I have a drawer full of singles :(

I'm not afraid of screwing up. If you go back and re-read the post, you'll see that I'm afraid of the overwhelming feelings I get when I knit with my handspun.

That is a lovely shrug! I admit I have a drawer full of shawls and I never wear them. Perhaps I should start thinking about shrugs instead :)

And thanks for your kind words about my short rows!

Yum, that is a lovely pattern! I would almost go with plain stockinette, if you had a super colour. Can't wait to see what you do!

I wish I could feel the Golding love, but mine wobble. The Spindlewood makes up for it though!
